and Washington between the Combine and his Pro Day...
having called his own plays in college and the attention
to detail that teams have seen out of him when watching
game film with him may now allow him to move up closer
to the 5th round than 6th-or-7th.
Dougherty (Doc-Her-Tee) is an outstanding athlete who
displays all of the essential dual threat tools to be
an effective competitor at the next level. Dougherty
has learned, played, and excelled in three different
systems. Finished his career with the all-time best
completion percentage (62.4) and ranked fourth all-time
in passing yardage (5,231). Dougherty's throwing ability
as well as his elusiveness and escape ability has also
facilitated not only his, but his teams success as he
averaged just under 250 (249.8) yards of total offense
per game throughout his career. Born on April 7th, 1980
in Wiesbaden, Germany Dougherty grew up in Elma, Washington
and is a product of Elma High School. As a three-time
Florida A&M academic award winner Dougherty will graduate
with a degree in Physical Education where he carries
a 3.92 GPA.
In 2004, Dougherty finished the year with back-to-back
400-yard passing games: 462 vs. Bethune-Cookman (6 TDs)
and 426 vs. Florida International. He passed for 2,696
yards and 19 TDs, hitting on 242 of 393 aerials (61.6
percent) with just 11 interceptions. In his second full
year as Florida A&M's starting quarterback Dougherty
showed up his record breaking Junior campaign with a
outstanding statistical season against arguably the
toughest D-1AA schedule in history. In his first three
games against D-1A schools, Dougherty averaged just
under 200 yards per game while completing 62% of his
passes Dougherty also finished the year as the teams
second leading rusher for the second straight year as
he gained 340 yards and 6 TD's. Highlighting Dougherty's
career, he showcased his skills in the HBCU All-Star
GRID Classic as well as showcasing his talents in the
NFL scouting combine.
